Don't get fooled

http://voucherlicious.com/Singapore/deal/feast-on-a-savoury-variety-of-dishes-at-only-$7-per-pax-at-zhou-jia-ji-(%E5%91%A8%E5%AE%B6%E8%A8%98)-restaurant

I'm sure this above linked is what some of you whom have thought that the restaurant looked good. But nope...
Certainly nice chairs...
Fried Rice
The fried rice here tasted not bad better than expected but a normal Sze Char can beat it by ten times. My sister said that she tasted a ball of salt. My mum thinks that it is too salty. The prawn is not fresh. There are only like 2 slices of fish inside it.

Vegetables with Fake Abalone
Tasted quite good but of course with the help of Oyster Sauce, anything could taste good. We had to stir the vegetables with the oyster sauce ourselves. So it was as though the chef didn't cook it.

Sweet & Sour Pork/ Chicken
This tasted the best really, but I can tell if it is pork or chicken.

Seafood soup
It was not too bad though. Consist of Toufu, Fish Cake, Prawn, Vegetables, Tomatoes, Fish Ball and lots of MSG added. Sighhhhh..

Staff were watching TV and chatting.

This restaurant is just a disaster. We didn't even get to looked at the menu. We gave our vouchers when we sat down. After which all the dishes started coming, nobody told us or even asked us anything. No orders were taken.

Worse, they look as though they didn't want to earn our money at all. The waitress was in home clothes and he didn't even ask us if we wanted any drinks. After he led us to our seat, he went back to this chair to chat with his friends.

A little something for the newly weds

I went for my neighbour’s wedding dinner lunch. Thankfully, because it will definitely bore the shit out of me. It was held at Mandarin Oriental. Don’t get confused. There are too many “Mandarin hotels” shit in the CBD area. It is the one opposite Esplanade.

Usually, I was expecting the standard few dishes and stuff.. But nope, this lunch set was a really unique one. LIKE REALLY…

Keychains & Customized measuring spoons

A big plate and all the dishes are served on a small plate. For a nicer look!

IMG_3113

First up, usually the cold dish. But damn, I forgot to take a picture of it. Urghhh~ So anyway it is inclusive of Cold Lobster, Crab roll, Mixed Salad, Roasted Pork (3 layers of meat), Unique fried small fish. I wanted to introduce you all the unique fish! Never seen it before but I forgot Sad smile

Next up, was supposed the Shark’s Fins as stated in the menu. When the soup arrived I was like thinking don’t tell me they change to something else? NO LAH.. It is served something like Buddha Jump Over the Wall as stated by my mum. Peasant me haven’t tried it yet. Anyway, it consists of about 4cm long Shark’s Fin, Dried Scallop, Sea Cucumber, Two Chunks of Chicken Meat and Abalone.

IMG_3115

The standard veg dish fried with scallop and abit of chili. Yummssss plus Yam Rings too!

IMG_3116

Up next was Roasted Duck. A whole roasted duck was served

IMG_3117

This the dish whereby in between the bride and groom comes and take pictures with you. I can’t seem to remember what fish this is but yup it comes with sweet sauce. And from all my experiences, they don’t usually serve one piece of fish dish by itself.

IMG_3118

The ending dish, usually it will be the heavily carbohydrate dish. May I present to you Glutinous Rice wrapped in Tou Fu Skin.

IMG_3126

Last but not least the dessert. My mother comes from a Teochew family so every dinner will be this dessert. Yam with Ginko Nuts. Mum says this is better than usual cause it is not oily.

Note: Do not attempt to blame me if any of mine descriptions fail, cause I’m a forgetful bitch and once again this is just my point of view and solely mine. Opinions? Email me or else STFU hehe.

Welcome to Monsters Like To Eat!

Photobucket

Hello there!

Welcome to Monsters Like To Eat, this blog used to be called NomNomzzz (which has since moved here) but we have decided to change it because we have decided to take a different approach towards the way we blog!

Just so you guys didn't know, we are pretty crazy in real life if you know us in person. The blog name originated from us behaving like monsters travelling around Singapore looking for good food, though this is not a daily thing. (We love simple food just like any true blue, Singaporeans out there) Our aim is to share with you the good places that we have gone and also the places which we made mistakes at to help assist you (in choosing the best food at restaurants and finding nice places).

Let me give you a brief introduction about me, I'm Nicole and I can't eat anything with strong meaty smells. Like Beef and Mutton. It's funny how me and Gabriel complement each other. I don't eat uncooked vegetables and only cooked vegetables. Salad, Coleslaw? Not for me, I'm born in a typical Chinese family whereby everything is cooked and being a Buddhist. I'm forbid to eat beef at home and it has become a habit for me but I do have exceptions. And oh, I don't like drinking or alcohol. I've always felt that it's a waste of money.

Unlike me, Gabriel doesn't eat cooked vegetables. He can eat coleslaw and salad but not fried vegetables? So WTF right! Anyway, his preferences are as follows: beef -> lamb -> pork -> chicken -> fish. He is okay with enjoying good beers with his meals but just like me, he doesn't really like the fact that people should drink without any reason. Gabriel seldom eats Chinese Food as much as others even though he is a Perenakan. For me, I would say he is more knowledgeable in Japanese Food then Chinese Food. Unfortunately, he has an uncanny taste for good Japanese food, and will never reject a meal at a Japanese restaurant (ever, unless it's from the Suki group)

Okay, I'm about to be done. Be patient while we update our posts. We shall conclude with our disclaimer: All these are based on our personal preferences. You may think differently, so to each his own! It's okay to think differently!

Welcome to Monsters.
